Sheridan College is excited to unlock barriers in the community with the Life Skills project; led by Sara Cummings, SPARK: The Sheridan Centre for Academic Execellence worked with community partners to create 52 self-directed modules dedicated to improving life and closing systemic gaps.

The Life Skills project was developed to support the community and build sustainable opportunities. With the help of Sheridan staff and faculty, including professors, members of SPARK, and external partners, the Life Skills project provided tools for users to expand their horizons based on our client-centered research.

The Life Skills curricular unlocks a new future for the community by offering the following skill development:

SPARK was able to support the community through our expert eLearning Designers, web developers, and instructional technologists. As a result, the Life Skills project retained elevated content through video production interactive content, and accessible visuals which increased user engagement.

One of the participants who utilized the Life Skills project emphasizes her positive experience:

I highly recommend taking the Life Skills course offered at Sheridan College. This course was very beneficial in providing me with all the tools I needed to enter college. I learned valuable lessons in time management and even how long per day to study for each class. Take this course and you will be successful at navigating this new world.

Today, the Life Skills project is available to the public via Open Access and continues to offer opportunities for personal growth in the community’s respective journeys. SPARK’s commitment to the community will continue to grow as the team supports accessible education across Canada.
